Backup & Recovery Policy

FopFo™ · Version 1.1.5 · Last updated 2026-07-20

1.1 Primary Storage — Your Live Sync Server

Everything you enter into each Application is stored on the secure synchronisation server tied to your 20-character instance key and scoped privately to your account. This is the live working store that lets the applications function and keeps every device sharing your key in step. Family Tree keeps your people and their trees; Benefits Management keeps your benefits and payment runs; Currency Management keeps your accounts and transactions; Holdings Management keeps your holdings, equity trades and settlements. To recover on a lost, replaced or reset device, simply sign in with your key and synchronise — because your data lives on the server, a cleared browser loses nothing.

1.2 Automatic Rolling Live Backup (Crash Protection)

Each Application is additionally protected by an automatic rolling "live backup" that guards your most recent work against crashes, power loss or an accidental change. It runs on two overlapping recording windows on a continuous cycle, so there is always active cover, and each captured change is held for a short rolling period and then automatically retired. If something goes wrong you can recover in one step from the Live Backup screen: preview what can be restored and recover everything at once, or restore a single item to its most recent good state. Live backup is ON by default for every Application you have installed; if you switch it off, changes made while it is off are not crash-protected, and your vendor is notified.

1.3 Your Own Backups — Download, Cloud & Restore

You can also keep your own independent copies at any time from the Sync & Backup screen. Choose an Application, then: • Local — download a backup file (.json) and store it on your device, an external drive or a USB stick. • Cloud — download the same file and upload it to your own Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. Your backup stays private inside your own cloud account; we never receive your cloud credentials or your files. To restore, choose "Restore from file" and pick Merge (add to and update existing data) or Replace (clear this Application's data, then import). Backups restore safely across older and newer versions of the Application. You may set an automatic synchronisation schedule (manual, every 15 minutes, hourly or daily); we track your last backup and remind you if it has been more than 30 days. A full export of all your data is always available.

1.4 Support-Assisted Restore (Optional, Off by Default)

If an instance ever becomes corrupted, you may optionally allow a support agent to OFFER a one-click restore of your own data from your live backup. This is disabled by default: it never sends program or code updates, never touches any other account, and nothing happens unless YOU click to accept. You can enable or disable it at any time from Sync & Backup.

1.5 Standalone Application (downloadable) pending

The forthcoming native desktop and mobile editions move to full on-device residency: your data stays on your own devices and synchronises directly between them (over your local network or Bluetooth), so your content need not leave your machines. In that model our servers retain only your licence entitlement and periodic compliance checks — not your family, benefits, currency or holdings content. This edition is pending release; this section will be finalised when the downloadable application ships.

1.6 Summary

In short: your data lives safely on your key-linked sync server (recover by signing in on any device), is continuously shadowed by an automatic crash buffer (one-click recovery of recent work), and can also be exported to your own device or cloud for self-managed restore — with an optional, opt-in support-assisted restore as a last resort. We protect your data with hashing, encryption and role-based access, and your data is always yours to export.

Keeping your own periodic downloaded backup, in addition to the automatic protections above, remains your strongest safeguard — we recommend a fresh backup at least daily.
